tension & opposition

“So divinely is the world organized that every one of us, in our place and time, is in balance with everything else.”

                  Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Our reality houses a myriad of opposite extremes: day and night, male and female, spirit and material, life and death, love and hate and so on.

Everything we know and understand exists somewhere between extremes. Take a deeper look and you'll see opposites are fundamentally interdependent. These connections are not obvious, but give it time and feelings of loss will give rise to a greater appreciation for what we have to be grateful for. Growth occurs as a result of struggling through less than ideal conditions and successes arise from the ashes of failures. This struggle between light and dark, us and them, right and wrong literally tethers together our varied experiences, keeping us tied to the will and destiny of all others.

This series explores the tension between duality and how it produces and upholds our fragile existence, creating opportunity for tension, opposition, discord, balance and unity.
